Where this data comes from

Two open datasets tell this site where places are and how long it takes to travel between them. Both are used under licences that require the acknowledgements below.

Places

Every place named on this site — a district, a neighbourhood, a town — is matched against Ordnance Survey Open Names, which we hold as a table in our own database. It is used under the Open Government Licence v3.0.

Open Names describes settlements and postcode districts. It does not describe buildings, and we do not keep the postcode units it contains: they are reduced to one point per district as the data is loaded and discarded with the download. That is why a job here is shown as a journey and never as an address.

Great Britain only. Open Names does not cover Northern Ireland, so a Northern Irish postcode is shown without a journey rather than placed from a source we are not licensed to use.

Journey times

Travel times come from the Transport for London Unified API, used under a modified Open Government Licence v2.0.

Nothing on this page implies that Transport for London or Ordnance Survey endorses this site, and neither has any involvement in it.

Photographs

The pictures on these pages are other people's work, used under the licences they were published with, and none of them shows anybody who uses this site. A carer's own photograph, if they publish one, appears on their own profile: it belongs to them, is not licensed material, and nothing on this page is a credit for it.

Cropped and re-encoded for the page; the originals are larger. No photograph on this site is taken from another childcare site — not the stock pictures above, and not a carer's own, which reaches us only because they sent it.
